What is Prime Minister’s Special Scholarship Scheme( pmsss ) ?

Prime Minister’s Special Scholarship Scheme: Under this scheme, the government wants to encourage children for higher education, and this scheme is an opportunity for those students who are not able to study further due to financial constraints. Under this scheme, scholarship is given only for technical education.
The Central Government takes every possible step to educate children. Many schemes are run at the state level and many at the district level also. Today we are going to give you information about one such scheme, with the help of which children can get higher education without spending money. We are talking about the Prime Minister Special Scholarship Scheme, which was started by the Central Government in 2016. Under this scheme, children can take scholarship from the government to do different courses, but for this you need to know many things.
The scheme aims to build the capacity of the youth of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh by educating them, empowering them to compete in an efficient and general manner.
Under this scheme, youth of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh are provided assistance through two-part scholarship namely Academic Fee and Subsistence Allowance. The academic fee is paid to the institution where the student is admitted after an online counseling process conducted by AICTE. Academic fees include tuition fees and other components as per the prescribed limits for various professional, medical and other undergraduate courses.
A fixed amount of Rs 1 lakh is provided to the beneficiary to meet the expenses of hostel, mess, books and stationery etc. and it is paid directly into the students’ account in installments of Rs 10,000 per month.
How will you be able to avail the benefits of the scheme?
To avail the benefits of this scheme, you must have some important documents. Which includes copy of birth certificate, Aadhar card, bank account passbook, educational certificate. With these documents you will have to go to the National Scholarship Portal and fill the form.

PMSSS Eligibility Criteria :

Candidates must be resident of Jammu and Kashmir state
Candidates must have passed 10+2 examination from JKBOSE or CBSE affiliated schools located in Jammu and Kashmir
Documents Required for PMSSS :
- Passport size photograph
- Scanned Signature
- SSC/Class 10th Marksheet
- Domicile/Day Scholar Certificate issued by Jammu and Kashmir Government
- Aadhar Card (if available)
- Family Income Certificate issued by Tehsildar or equivalent
- Category/caste certificate issued by the competent authority of the State Government (if applicable)
- Certificate of Disability (For Persons with Disabilities – PWD)
Payment process in Prime Minister Scholarship Scheme:

In this, the assistance amount given to the applicants will be deposited in the bank account on monthly basis. As the candidates get selected, the first installment will be automatically transferred to their account. To keep this grant regular, applicants will have to fill and submit the payment-cum-renewal form. Along with this, there should also be a bonafide certificate. When this is completed, the department will deposit the money in the applicant’s bank account.
