PM Fasal Bima Yojana 2023 :

Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana has been launched by the Prime Minister of the country Narendra Modi for the benefit of the farmers. This scheme was launched on 13 May 2016 in Sehore, Madhya Pradesh. Under PMFBY, if a farmer’s crop gets damaged, a provision has been made to provide insurance cover to the farmers in such a situation. Keeping in mind the financial condition of each farmer, the premium amount has been kept quite low. Since the inception of this scheme, insurance cover has been provided to 36 crore farmers by the Central Government.

Till now, through this Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana, insurance claim amount of Rs 1.8 lakh crore has been provided to the farmers. The aim of this scheme is to benefit more and more farmers. So that the loss caused due to natural disaster can be compensated. Soon the government will start door-to-door Mitra campaign to provide crop insurance policy to the farmers so that more and more farmers can get the benefit of this scheme without any hassle.

Objective of Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana :

The main objective of launching the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana by Prime Minister Narendra Modi is to provide financial assistance to the farmers suffering from crop loss due to natural disaster so that the farmers can be encouraged to adopt new and modern farming methods and the income of the farmers can be increased. Which crops are included in PM Fasal Bima Yojana?

Oilseeds (sesame, mustard, castor, cottonseed, groundnut, soybean, sunflower, rapeseed, safflower, linseed, nigerseeds etc.)

How can we apply?

To apply under Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana, farmers can get insurance from any bank. For this they just have to go to the bank and fill a form and then their crops get insured. However, farmers have to deposit their land and other documents with the bank.

How to get insurance claim?

To claim the Prime Minister Crop Insurance Scheme, farmers first have to inform the Agriculture Department about crop damage within 72 hours. After this the application has to be made. In the form, details like the reason for crop damage, which crop was sown, how many areas have been damaged, all these things have to be given. They also have to give information related to land. Apart from this, a photocopy of the insurance policy is required.

After a few days of applying, representatives of the insurance company and employees of the agriculture department inspect the farm and assess the damage and if everything is found correct, the full insurance claim is deposited in the farmer’s bank account.
