Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana :

Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PMJAY) is run by the Government of India to provide better health facilities to the weaker section of the people of India. Under this scheme, free treatment facility up to Rs 5 lakh is provided. During the treatment, the cost of medicines, medical expenses etc. are borne by the government. Those who are eligible for this scheme are given an Ayushman card, through which they can avail the facility of free treatment in the hospital.

With the help of Ayushman Mobile App, you can see the list of hospitals listed under the scheme. For this, first of all go to Google Play Store and install Ayushman Bharat PM-JAY app on the phone.

On opening the app, many services available on Ayushman Yojana App will be visible. You click on Find Empaneled Hospitals from there.

After this, select the name of the state, name of the city and the department of the disease for which treatment is required. For example, pulmonary will have to be selected for the treatment of lung patients.

After this click on the search option. After this, the state, city and list of hospitals related to which disease you have searched will start appearing on Google Map.

These hospitals will be visible as red marks. Whatever hospital you click on, its name and address will appear in front of you.

Apart from this, a button to make a call will also be present below. By tapping on this you can also talk directly to the hospital.

Achievements of the scheme:

1. Beneficial for the poor:

In the first 200 days of implementation, PMJAY has benefited more than 20.8 lakh poor and underprivileged people, who have received free treatment worth more than Rs 5,000 crore.

2. During COVID-19:

A key feature of PMJAY since its inception has been its portability, which helps ensure that migrant workers can get themselves treated at any empaneled hospital in the country, irrespective of their residential status.

PM-JAY is the world’s largest health insurance/assurance scheme entirely funded by the government.

It provides a cover of Rs. 5 lakh per family per year for secondary and tertiary care hospitalization in public and private empaneled hospitals in India.

More than 12 crore poor and vulnerable eligible families (about 55 crore beneficiaries) are eligible for these benefits.

PM-JAY provides cashless access to health care services to the beneficiary at the point of service i.e. hospital.

Objective of Ayushman Bharat Yojana 2023 :

In the poor families of our country, in case of any major illness, due to financial constraints, they are not able to get treatment in hospitals and are unable to bear the cost of treatment, by providing health insurance assistance of up to Rs. 5 lakhs through this scheme. To enable them to get free treatment in hospitals and to eliminate the health related problems of poor families and to reduce the death rate due to disease.
